A well-regarded obstetric and gynecological practice, Drs. Goodman & Partridge, OB/GYN, possesses medical offices across the state of Arizona. Dr. Clifford Goodman, Jr. and Dr. Scott Partridge currently serve as the primary physicians. Actively involved in the medical profession, Drs. Goodman & Partridge maintains active membership in the American Congress of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG). A professional organization, ACOG includes more than 90 percent of all practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the country. ACOG represent the interests of these obstetricians and gynecologists. ACOG maintains a membership of more than 50,000 physicians. In addition to providing valuable education and informational services, ACOG also advocates for obstetricians and gynecologists at various levels of government. Following is a brief synopsis of some of the most pressing issues on the ACOG legislative agenda.

Pregnancy outcomes: As a professional organization of obstetricians, ACOG is dedicated to supporting federal programs that result in improved pregnancy outcomes. In particular, the organization points to research on obesity and maternal and infant health as examples of forward-thinking legislation. Similarly, ACOG advocates for patient safety initiatives such as the Maternity Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) and the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI).

Health reform: In the wake of the latest health care reform initiatives, ACOG sets out to ensure that the needs of obstetricians and gynecologists and their patients are adequately met. In addition to providing maternity coverage for all women and extending Medicaid family planning services to low-income individuals, ACOG also supports standards for integrated health information technology and continues research into the causes and effects of postpartum depression. ACOG strongly opposes the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), provisions that leave obstetricians and gynecologists out of Medicare and Medicaid plans, and federal recognition of untrained midwives.

Medical liability reform: A firm supporter of caps on non-economic damages in the case of medical liability like the ones seen in Texas and California, ACOG also advocates for a number of alternative reforms.

Medicare physician payment: In terms of compensation for Medicare physicians, ACOG opposes the Independent Payment Advisory Board and supports the repeal of the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR).
